Nottingham– Less than one year after starting a brand new competitive cheerleading team at Xtreme Tumble and Cheer, based out of Nottingham, for Oxford and its surrounding areas, O-Xtreme Cheer has outshined squads up and down the east coast in competitive cheerleading. With two teams and 41 cheerleaders ranging in ages from 7 to 14,
O-Xtreme Cheer has dominated in the Pee Wee Division and Junior Division competitive cheerleading in over eight competitions since January of this year.
O-Xtreme Cheer won a full paid bid to compete at the U.S. Finals Championship, which took place on Saturday, May 5, in Virginia Beach, Va. The O-Xtreme Pee Wee Division team ages 7-10, also known as O-Xtreme Hot Shots, won first place out of four squads. In addition, the O-Xtreme Junior Division team ages 11-14, also known as O-Xtreme Intensity, won first place out of 14 squads. O-Xtreme is currently ranked in the Top 7 in the nation for these divisions. On May 18, the 14-and-under Junior Cheerleading squad was named first in the United States, and the 10-and-under Pee Wee squad was named second nationally.
The gym will be adding new squads for its upcoming season; 5U, 8U, 11U, 14U and 18U. Evaluations for the 2012/2013 season will take place the week of May 29th, girls and boys ages7 through 18 are invited to try out for one of the squads. There will be no evaluations for ages 4 to 6. Everyone makes a squad.
