KMC boys gymnastics shine on home turf

The KMC Boys Team competed against more than 200 gymnasts from across the region in their home meet, the Kennett Mushroom Classic. Kyle Walchuk, Devin Trinter, Kieran Clark, Andrew Overman, Liam Bachman, Ryan Uy, Austin Geibel, Aaron Gonsalves, Adam Zolper, Zachary Secord, Joshua Secord, and Gavin Felix won first place in the all-around (AA) or on individual events. The level 9 and 4 teams faced fierce competition and won the team awards.

Level 10

Trinter came back strong and was the AA champion in his first competition of the season. He also took home second on floor and parallel bars as well as third on vault and high bar.

Level 9

Clark and Overman brought home first and second places on AA, respectively. Clark also won first on rings and parallel bars; he was also second place on vault, third on floor, fifth on pommel horse. Overman won first on vault, second on parallel bars, and third on pommel horse and high bar. Bachman was the floor champion and also placed fifth in the AA and on vault as well as fourth on parallel bars and high bar. Jackson Scheck placed sixth on floor and parallel bars.

Level 7

Walchuk compete in the 10-and under age group where he earned first place on all of the events including the AA. In the 11-and-over age group, Edris Graves won third on floor and vault as well as fourth on pommel horse and fifth in the AA and high bar. TJ Langdon brought home third on pommel horse and fourth on vault.

Level 6

In the 11-and-under age group Connor Homan came in second on floor and third in the AA, on pommel horse and parallel bars. Thomas Casey competed in the 12-and-over age group where he won third on rings and high bar as well as fifth on vault and sixth on floor.

Level 5

Uy and Geibel led the team by winning first in AA in their respective age groups. Uy competed in the 9-year-old age group where he received first on pommel horse, and high bar; he was also second on floor and parallel bars, and fifth on vault. In the same age group, Spencer Lewis was second vault and fifth in the AA and on rings and parallel bars. Spencer Biggs earned fourth on vault. Geibel was the rings and parallel bars champion in the 10-and-11-year old age group. He also took home second on pommel horse and third on floor, vault and high bar. For the 12-and-older age group, Oliver March received second on rings and vault as well as fourth in the AA and on floor and high bar.

Level 4

Once again the level 4 boys had a strong competition led by Felix and Zolper who were the AA champions in their respective age groups. Ryan Iskandar competed in the 6-year-old age group where he placed fourth on vault, fifth on floor and rings and sixth in the AA and pommel horse and parallel bars. Zolper competed in the 7-year-old age group where he won floor, pommel horse, rings, and vault. He also placed second on parallel bars and fourth on high bar. In the same age group, Gonsalves won first on high bar, as well as second in the AA and on floor, and vault. He took home third on pommel horse and rings. Rowan Avatara was second on high bar and third on floor. Isaac Steele placed third on vault and sixth on floor. Gavin Burrell was fifth on floor. In the 8-year-old age group, Joshua Secord and Felix led the group. Felix was first place on floor, pommel horse and high bar, respectively. Felix also took second place on rings and parallel bars. Secord was the champion on parallel bars and high bar. He came in second AA and on floor as well as third on vault and high bar. In the 9-and-10-year old age group, Zachary Secord won first on rings and parallel bars as well as second in the AA and on pommel horse along with third on vault and high bar.

The boys train at KMC Gymnastics owned and run by Karen Myers, in Kennett Square, PA. The boys are coached by Victor Kolesnikov, Brian Narvaez, Jerry Fix and Dave Hirst. Their next meet is this weekend at the Temple Gym in Philadelphia PA.
