Jeff Strunk, Craig Von Dohren and Duane Howard have pretty much dominated the TP Trailers NASCAR 358 Modified stock car racing action at Grandview Speedway for the last 16 seasons. Terry Meitzler, now retired, won the title in 1999 and the “big three” have shared the championships between them since then. Strunk has won 10, VonDohren claimed four including last season and Howard topped the standings twice.

However all that could change this season. Doug Manmiller is looking for his first title and is planning on a strong effort at the one-third-mile, banked clay oval. Young Tim Buckwalter, Hall of Famer Frank Cozze along with veterans Meme DeSantis, Danny Erb, Mike Gular, Ray Swinehart and others are planning to chase the title. Young Brett Kressley moving up from the Sportsman ranks to Modifieds is another driver with his sights on a title.

Fans will get to see what is new for 2016 when many of the teams planning to race in the NASCAR stock car action at Grandview take part in the free-to-the-public-practice session on Saturday, March 26th starting at noon.

And on Saturday, April 2nd, 7 p.m. the chase for the lucrative championships in the TP Trailers Modifieds, BRC Late Models and Sportsman gets underway.

Also included in the impressive list of scheduled events is the Thunder on the Hill Series which offer a variety of racing events on midweek dates. Included this year will be United States Auto Club Wingless Sprints, Tony Stewart’s Circuit of Champions Sprints, Big Block Modifieds, TSRS 305 Sprints, and other impressive attractions.

Again this season will be several Outlaw Enduro races along with Blast From the Past Vintage car doubleheaders. The first of these events will be presented on Saturday, March 19th at noon.

Season pass holders are invited to the track on Saturday, March 5th at 1 p.m. (weather permitting) to pick the seat that they will use each Saturday night during the season, April through September). Those who have not purchased their season pass can do so on that day.

Track owners Bruce and Teresa Rogers continue to recover from the auto accident in Daytona Beach, Florida with Teresa now getting therapy attention at their Florida home. Bruce continues his treatment in the local hospital. The family is most appreciative of all the cards, notes and social media messages that have been received wishing Bruce and Teresa well as they continue their recovery.

A complete schedule of events can be found at www.grandviewspeedway.com and information can be had on the website, Facebook or at 610.754.7688.

Grandview Speedway is located on Passmore Road in Bechtelsville, Pa, just a short distance off Route 100, 10 miles north of Pottstown.

* * *The operative word to best describe the behind the scenes work leading up to the 9th Annual Quaker Steak and Lube Dirt Track Heroes Show would be “intense.” The telephones are ringing continuously and the internet is clicking as another sponsor has signed on for what will be another successful gathering of the past, present and future of auto racing as they all join forces together under one roof in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. The Dirt Track Heroes Car Show will be primed and ready when the doors of the Mall swing open to welcome the return of the show to the Phillipsburg Mall in 2016 with opening day set for Sunday, March 6th. The show encompasses the majority of the local short track scene and will continue through Saturday night, March 12th. The Phillipsburg Mall, located on Route 22 East in Phillipsburg, NJ, has proven to be a popular setting for this special event and will offer a multitude of race cars, racing memorabilia, collectibles and photos on display throughout the course of the show. The show continues to be free of charge.

Quaker Steak & Lube, or The Lube(r) to loyalists, the award-winning casual dining concept known for its Best Wings USA and over 25 signature sauces, is fully prepped and geared as the lead sponsor for the 9th Annual Dirt Track Heroes Car Show. Quaker Steak & Lube, which opened in Phillipsburg, New Jersey in August of 2014, signed on with the successful show last February and were extremely pleased with the excellent results and the great feedback they received from their initial venture with the popular annual racing oriented show. The Pohatcong Township (Phillipsburg, NJ) Quaker Steak & Lube is located at 1304 US Route 22, Phillipsburg, NJ, and welcomes all race fans and families to stop by their location when visiting the New Jersey area to be re-charged and re-fueled. The restored Bob Pickell driven 300 Pinto is on the rack at Quaker Steak and one can request a table right underneath the car

All historical racing groups including Reading, Flemington, Harmony, Dorney Park and Nazareth will have their memorabilia on display and their many scrapbooks open for the fans to take another long look at the glory years of racing and possibly find a picture or two they want to purchase as a keepsake from past glory or racing exploits. Cars on display include big and small block Modifieds, Sportsman, Micro-Sprints, ARDC Midgets, 358 and 360 Sprints, TSRS Sprints, Late Models, go-karts, quarter midgets and a broad range of vintage and restored race cars. New Egypt, Grandview, Big Diamond, Bridgeport, Hamlin, Action Track USA and Snydersville will again be among the many speedways involved with the 2016 show. The week-long event will set aside one evening to salute the “Stars of Tomorrow” with a special night for the budding young racing talents competing with the many quarter midget clubs in the local area.

The Dirt Track Heroes Car Show will again offer a great keepsake event souvenir program book and shirt. The Phillipsburg Mall is open Sunday 11 AM to 6 PM and from Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 9 PM.
