Simon Pearce Restaurant, Glass Blowing, closes for good

The little office strip mall just north of Painters Crossing condominiums resounded with laughter and music, faith and joy Sunday night. Members of New Horizon Fellowship celebrated the installation of the Rev. Peter Young as their new pastor.

The church was without a fulltime pastor since the death of Timothy Pierce in December of 2004.

Members of the congregation were joined by another two-dozen people from a Spanish church in Phoenixville that Young helped found while a pastor at Victory Center Church in Paoli.

Young is fluent in Spanish and translated part of Sunday's ceremony that included contemporary Christian music along with prayers and blessings for Young and his family.

Both Young and his wife, Wendy, exchanged formal vows of service and acceptance with the congregation. Wendy Young's vow was to assist her husband in his role of pastor.

Members of the Church Advisory Board gathered around the couple for the laying on of hands and prayers for divine guidance.

The crowd of more than 100 people erupted with applause and a standing ovation after the Rev. Dennis Cheek, who officiated, pronounced Young as senior pastor and chairman of the church board.
