CONCORD >> A local Wawa was held up at gunpoint twice over the weekend, and a teenager is now in custody in connection with the pair of heists.

The first time the suspect walked away empty-handed, but the second time he managed to flee with some cash.

A teen was taken into custody after a short police chase himself in at state police barracks in Media Monday afternoon. His name was not released because he is underage.

The first incident occurred at the Wawa at Baltimore Pike and Stoneybank Road just before 10 p.m. Saturday.

After entering the store and buying something at the cash register, the suspect showed a handgun and demanded the money from the cash register, police said. But instead of waiting for the cash, he for some reason fled the store.

Police believe the same suspect may have returned just before 6:30 Sunday night. Again he approached the counter, bought something, then demanded money from the cash register after displaying a gun. He got an undisclosed amount of cash and then fled the store, police said.

The suspect is described as a black man, 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall with a thin build. He was wearing all black clothing Saturday, and on Sunday was sporting a black baseball cap and Sunday, a gray knit winter hat.

Anybody with information is asked to call Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Investigation Unit Trooper Brian Maturo at 484-840-1000.
