Victoria "Vicky" Ann Fidanza Dickens, 52, of Avondale died peacefully at home on Dec. 13.She was the wife of Ronald C. Dickens, with whom she shared 13 years of marriage.
Born in Wilmington, she was the daughter of Mark R. and Victoria Ranalli Fidanza of Avondale.
Mrs. Dickens was an elementary school teacher for 29 years, and in all her years of service she touched many lives and made this world a better place. She started her career at St.
Patrick school and ended it at New Garden Elementary School in New Garden, where she served on many committees, including the After the Bell and Sunshine Club. She was a 1974 graduate of the Kennett High School and received her master's degree from West Chester University.
She enjoyed life. She and her husband traveled many places during their 13 years together. Her love for her family was evident in the many special things she did for her parents, aunts and uncles, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and cousins. Laughter was a huge part of her life and because of it she made everyone celebrate each day. Teaching was not just a job for her it was a calling - one that she answered each day with a smile and dedication to help each child be the best they could be.
She was a member of Saint Mary's of the Assumption Church in Hockessin, Del. Her faith was evident in how she handled the disease of cancer. Although the cancer took her body, it did not take her will to celebrate life.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by three brothers, Michael A. Fidanza and his wife, Anjanette, of Downingtown, Mark V. Fidanza and his wife, Karen, of Avondale, Louis J. Fidanza and his wife, Patricia, of Avondale; 13 nieces and nephews; and six grand-nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extent a heartfelt thank you to the following people:
