Quarter Auction FundraiserOn behalf of the Oxford Area Student Council, there will be a cimmunity Quarter Auction Fundraiser to benefit the Neighborhood Services Center of Oxford. The event is being held this Sunday, December 14 at 2:15 p.m., doors will open at 1:30 p.m., at the Elk Ridge School, located at 200 Wickersham Road, Oxford. Tickets are $2 per guest and include one auction paddle. There will be over 90 items up for auction including merchandise from Tupperware, Avon, Pampered Chef, Southern Living and more. Door prizes will be awarded, food will be served. There will also be a 50/25/25 and a Cash and Carry. Tickets are limited to this exciting, fun-filled event. Alice's Run and Walk 5K event
Come out for the 2 nd Annual YMCA of the Brandywine Valley Alice's Run and Walk 5K event, Saturday, December 13 at 1 p.m. at Hibernia Park in Coatesville, Pa. Alice's Run is presented by Precision Print Communications and Springbank Foundation and is open to families and individuals in the community who love to run and walk and who want to help raise funds for the Alzheimer's Foundation and the YMCA.

Alice's Run & Walk is named for YMCA Senior VP of Association Service, Jody Giardina's mother, Alice Gonaver, who passed away from Alzheimer's Disease on in 2007. Alice spent her life empowering women and "women to be." As a teacher, mentor, mother, and grandmother, she inspired those around her to fearlessly set goals for themselves.

Choral Hospitality Community Sing Night
The Nottingham Presbyterian Church (Greenstone), located at 497 West Christine Road, in Nottingham, is hosting a Choral Hospitality Community Sing Night on Thursday, December 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. Come out and enjoy singing, sipping hot chocolate and eating yummy cookies as you take in the Herr's Christmas lights. The public is invited to a drive-thru nativity on Sunday, December 14 from 5-7 p.m. "Bethlehem at Beulah" is presented by Beulah Baptist Church to encourage members of the community to take a few minutes out of their busy schedules to remember the birth of Jesus during the Christmas Season. The drive-thru format allows people to remain in the warmth and comfort of their vehicles while imagining what it would have been like to be in Bethlehem the night Jesus was born.
Bethlehem at Beulah is particularly well-suited for those who are not able to be outdoors or who have limited ambulation. Group homes and assisted living groups are welcome. The drive-thru experience will take about 10 minutes, and there is a parking area for those who may want to stay a little longer. The lobby of the church will be open and guests are invited to stop in for refreshments.
"Bethlehem at Beulah" will be located at the church parking lot opposite Beulah Baptist Church on Rt. 896, 300 yards north of the intersection of Rts. 10 and 896 in Upper Oxford. Herr's Holiday Lights
Herr's Foods officially lit the factory and corporate complex for the holiday season with their twentieth annual Christmas Lighting Celebration located at the intersection of Route 1 and Route 272 in Nottingham. Extended Visitor Center hours for the holidays run as folows: December 15 to 18, 22 and 23, 29 and 30, 2008 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Gift Shop hours for two Saturdays only, December 13 and 20, 2008 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Christmas Eve and New Years Eve hours are from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The lights display will be lit nightly from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m., November 25 through January 2, 2009.
Come out and be a part of the long standing community-based tradition at Herr's to kick off the rapidly approaching holiday season.
