(Staff Photo by Wm. Twelve suspects were arrested on Monday morning as part of a early morning sweep.

Downingtown Area Education Association teachers officially began picketing Tuesday morning at various sites within the Downingtown Area School District. Groups were seen at Down-ingtown East, Downingtown West, in front of the administration building, as well as at three district elementary schools.Teachers in the picket lines refused to comment on the work stoppage, saying only they were unable to comment and referred all questions to the DAEA's Pennsylvania State Education Association staff negotiator, Paul Gottlieb.

At Downingtown East, a small group of seniors were hoping to see their teachers picketing. The students were unhappy with the strike because it could push back their graduation date.

"It's all fun and games until it messes with senior week," one of the students said with a laugh.
