Several New Garden police officers to be honored for outstanding service

Several New Garden police officers will by honored for outstanding service on Monday, March 21.

The ceremony will take place at 7 p.m .at the New Garden Township municipal building, located at 299 Starr Road for our 2015 Recognition Ceremony.

The New Garden Township Police Department will be introducing their four newest members of the police department for their oath of office. Additionally, Joseph P. Versagli, III who is a four veteran of the department will be taking his oath of office as he ascends to the rank of Corporal.

Police Chief Gerald Simpson and the members of the department will give recognition to the officers for their outstanding work in 2015. The first recognition is the Annual DUI Enforcement Award. The New Garden Township Police Department distinguishes this enforcement, as it is in harmony with the department’s duty to protect “Human Life;” the first core value.

Four police officers will receive an award ribbon for their 2015 efforts, which represent over half of all DUI arrests made in 2015. Simpson said their hard work has made New Garden Township a safer place to live and travel.

PO Ryan D. Kushner – Second year

PO Matthew R. Jones – Third year

Cpl. Joseph F. Greenwalt – Third year

PO Joseph P. Versagli, III – Fourth year

The 2015 Chief Gerald W. Davis Award Recipient:

The 2015 Chief Gerald W. Davis Award recipient is P.O. Matthew R. Jones. P.O. Jones has served the police department for just less than four years. P.O. Jones was nominated by numerous peers for his proactive and enthusiastic police work which resulted in numerous drug arrests. P.O. Jones is a model police officer and his efforts, which emulate the Department’s core values, are why he is our 2015 Chief Gerald W. Davis Award recipient.

The public is encouraged to join the celebration; invite your family and friends to help us recognize our police officers for outstanding work! A small reception will follow the ceremony.
