The Southern End Community Association is once again offering free Christmas tree recycling as a community service to southern end residents until Jan. 15.The drop-off site is the SECA Pool parking area in Quarryville's Memorial Park.
All tinsel, artificial garland, lights and ornaments must be removed from the trees before they are dropped off.
"It's nice if all that stuff is not on it," said Scott Peiffer, owner of SEPCOM in Quarryville. He asks that trees not be wrapped or placed in plastic bags.
Peiffer said the Jan. 15 deadline for tree drop-off gives people two weeks after Christmas to dispose of their trees.
Peiffer and his employees have been disposing of the trees as a service to SECA for several years. The trees are run through a wood chipper and the wood chips are put on a pile in back of the SECA building.
