Robert N. Taylor, age 82, of Landenberg and lifelong resident of Chester County, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008 after a long illness. He was the husband of Doris Emerson Taylor with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.Born in Chadds Ford in 1926 to the late Newton and Charlotte Taylor, he was one of 11 children in a big farm family.

Bob was a member of Avon-dale Presbyterian Church and the New London Masonic Lodge.

His past occupations included: farmer, mushroom grower, Republican committeeman and New Garden Area Republican Chairman. He served as past president of the Pennsylvania Association of Weights and Measures, the American Mushroom Institute and the White Clay Watershed Association. He was the director of the Department of Weights and Measures/Consumer Affairs of Chester County retiring in 2000 after serving for 25 years, but his passion was serving New Garden Township as supervisor for 43 years, retiring only in recent years.

Bob was a strong believer in doing his best for God, family, community and country. His dedication, knowledge, common sense and compassion will be missed by all.

In addition to his beloved wife, Doris, he is survived by three children, Cheryl Salvato and her husband, Rick; Rose Anne Kelly and her husband, Chris; and Robert Taylor, Jr. and his wife, June; five grandchildren, Heath and Brett Kelly; Laura Salvato, Robert Taylor, III; and Kristen Morales; two great-grandchildren, Logan and Michael Taylor; three sisters, Aileen, Dorothy, and Edith; and one brother, Howard; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law scattered throughout the country.

He was unfortunately prede-ceased by two grandsons, Derrick and Nathan Salvato and four sisters, Esther, Ann, Charlotte and Margaret, and two brothers, Newton, Jr. and Edward.

Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 PM on Friday, Dec. 19 at Cleveland & Grieco Funeral Home, 221-223 Pennsylvania Avenue, Avondale, PA (610-268-2166). His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, at Avondale Presbyterian Church, 420 Pennsylvania Avenue, Avondale, PA. Interment will be in Union Hill Cemetery, Kennett Square.
