Rita T. Johnson, 76, of Downingtown, died on Thursday, Dec. 4 at the Neighborhood Hospice Inpatient Unit, West Chester.Rita was the wife of John J. Johnson, with whom she celebrated 49 years of marriage.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Rita was the daughter of Victor A. and Louise Byrne Littwin.

Rita had been employed as a nurse's aide at Immaculata College's Camilla Hall and as a teacher's aide at Ss. Philip and James Church School. She was also employed at the former Ship & Shore and the Chester County Courthouse.

Along with her husband, Rita is survived by four children: John Johnson, husband of Kim of Atglen; Karen Johnson, wife of Greg Vanzanten of West Brandywine; Kim Badeaux, wife of Dan of Mortonville; and Mike Johnson, husband of Nancy of Phoenixville. Also surviving are her stepmother, Beatrice Littwin of Harrisburg; a brother, Thomas "Skip" Littwin of Hummelstown; and six grandchildren, Jeremy Johnson, Benjamin Johnson, Gregory Vanzanten, Jack Badeaux, Ava Badeaux and Matthew Johnson.

Rita was predeceased by a sister, Elaine Osifat; and a brother, Gene Littwin.

A Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at St. Peter & Paul Church, 1325 Boot Road, West Chester.
