Police seek man who robbed Kennett-area Walgreens at gunpoint

EAST MARLBOROUGH >> Police are still looking for the man who robbed the Walgreens Pharmacy at gunpoint on Sunday, March 26, making off with money, cigarettes and an employee’s cell phone.

According to state police at Avondale, A black male entered the Walgreens on the 800 block of East Baltimore Pike at 9:30 p.m. and held up a black, semi-automatic handgun, chambering a round. He went to the front of the store where he made contact with a female employee and asked her about the location of the store’s safe.

He then grabbed the female employee and began to walk her to the manager’s office, gun in hand, police said. When he encountered the shift manager in the store, he waved his gun at her, motioning her to go to the manager’s office.

Once in the office, the suspect had the first employee lay down on the ground while the store manager emptied the safe. He then ordered the manager to empty her wallet. He demanded the employee to follow him up to the counter, where he ordered the store manager to fill up a garbage bag full of cigarettes.

After the bag was full of cigarettes, he fled on foot toward the empty parking lot. Surveillance at the store was unable to obtain a vehicle description.

The suspect is described as a dark-skinned black male wearing all black clothing and a black ski mask. He was wearing either gold-rimmed or orange-red rimmed classes. He made off with an undetermined amount of cash, approximately 30 packs of cigarettes and two cartons of cigarettes, along with the shift manager’s IPhone, debit card and driver’s license.
