Digital first mediaNew Garden>> Javier Flavio Rico, Jr., 22, of Newark, Del. was arrested by Southern Chester County Regional Police and charged with DUI and with carrying a firearm without a license, after the 2006 Ford he was operating was stopped for swerving in and out of its lane of travel. The incident occurred on March 17 at 3:19 a.m., in the 8900 block of Gap Newport Pike, in New Garden Township. Upon making contact with Rico, police observed indicators suggesting intoxication and field sobriety tests confirmed impairment. While interacting with Rico, police observed spent shell casings in the bed of his truck. When asked if there was a firearm in the vehicle, Rico admitted that there was a gun in the sunglass visor. Police located a loaded Glock 9mm pistol and determined that Rico did not have a concealed carry permit. He was taken into custody for the firearms violation and for suspicion of DUI. He submitted to a chemical test of his breath resulting in a BAC of .141 percent. He was processed and held for arraignment, after which he was released on $10,000.00 unsecured bail.
State Police Avondale BarracksRetail Theft >> A 35-year-old male from Wilmington was reported to have stolen property from Walmart in East Marlborough Township on Jan. 24 at 3:27 a.m., and when he was arrested, he was in possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia, police said.
DUI crash >> Matthew Morgan France, 39, of Kennett Square was in a two-vehicle crash at State and Kelton roads in Penn Township on April 2 at 4:05 p.m. He displayed signs of alcohol impairment and was placed under arrest, police said.
Theft and Forgery >> A ex-employee of a company in the 300 block of Conner Road in Lower Oxford Township spent about $13, 000 from the company account for personal purchases and bill payments without authorization on March 12, police said.
Drugs >> Police were called to the 2100 block of Baltimore Pike in East Nottingham Township on Feb. 24 at 8:20 p.m. for teenagers drinking, doing drugs and fighting. When troopers arrived, the youths pointed to a car with tinted windows that then drove away. When troopers caught up with the car, they detected odor of marijuana and the driver had green, leafy flakes on her shirt. Troopers also detected the odor of alcohol. Then, both occupants were asked to get out of the car for a search. The troopers found liquor and cocaine. The occupant was taken into custody and found to be a juvenile. The operator was released based on no intoxication. The juvenile was taken to the Avondale station and is parents were contacted to come to the station. The juvenile was found to be in possession of cocaine. HE was processed and released to his parents, police said.
ONE CAR >> Mary McGrenaghan, 64, of Oxford hit a deer on Baltimore Pike in Upper Oxford on March 5 at 6:59 p.m., police said.
Theft >> The acquaintance of the son of a resident of Franklin Township was visiting overnight on March 23, and later the resident found a credit card was missing and several charges had been made on other cards, police said.
Identity theft >> Someone opened a fraudulent Verizon account in the name of a 75-year-old resident of West Grove on March 39, police said.
Sexual assault >> Police are investigating the report of child abuse involving inappropriate touching in the 900 block of Pennock Bridge Road in Franklin Township on March 16, police said.
Drugs >> Douglas Steele, 32, and Zachary Alan Pennel, 26, both of Oxford were arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia following a motor vehicle crash on Route 1 near Mill Road in New Garden Township on March 20 at 7:01 p.m., police said.
Drugs >> An unconscious male was taken from his vehicle to Jennersville Hospital on March 15 at 1:098 p.m. in the 2600 block of Baltimore Pike in East Nottingham Township. Drugs and paraphernalia were found in the vehicle, police said. Theft >> Someone took $30 from a self-service milk store in Pocopson Township on March 16 at 2:07 a.m. The suspect was recorded on surveillance, police said.
Identity Theft >> Someone obtained the identity of a victim in Elk Township on March 21 and attempted to buy a computer over the phone using that victim’s identity, police said.

Aggravated indecent assault >> Christ King, 40, of East Nottingham Township was investigated in connection with a sexual assault in which three victims reported that they were touch inappropriately by the suspect on Buttercup Drive in East Nottimgham Township between 2010 and Nov. 11 of 2017, police said.
ParkesburgHindering apprehension >> Police have charged Caroline Jayne Morgan-Cox with hindering apprehension and related offenses after providing police with deliberately false and misleading information regarding a criminal suspect hiding from the police inside her residence at 150 North Church Street on March 26, 2018. The identified suspect was then observed fleeing her residence to further evade police capture, which led to a multi-agency and K-9 search of nearby woods and neighborhoods.
Kennett SquareAggravated assault >> On March 18 at 10:33 p.m., police arrested Maria Baeza-Alvarez, 19, of Kennett Square for Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct, Harassment, Public Drunkenness and Underage Drinking following an incident that occurred in the 500 block East Cypress Street.
Public drunkenness >> On March 19 at 6:06 pm, police received a report of an intoxicated male stumbling in the street in the 200 block East State Street. Police cited James Cook, 52, Kennett Square, for public drunkenness. Cook was released for transport to the hospital due to his level of intoxication.
Criminal mischief >> On March 19, police received the report of criminal mischief to a vehicle parked in the 400 block of South Walnut Street. Intentional dents had been made on a vehicle parked there.
Theft >> Sometime overnight on March 20, a silver flashlight was stolen from a vehicle parked in the 600 block Ridge Avenue. The flashlight was recovered near the intersection of Ridge Avenue and South Washington Street.
Theft >> Sometime overnight March 20, two unlocked vehicles parked in the 100 block South Young Avenue were entered. Two black Mag Lite flashlights valued at $50 were taken.
Theft >> Sometime overnight on March 20, two unlocked vehicles parked in the 500 block Richards Road were entered. Approximately $20 in change and a registration card were stolen.
