Hit and RunPolice are investigating a crash that occurred on Sept. 4 at 1:05 p.m. on US Highway 1 at its intersection with State Highway 82. According to reports, unit 1 is an unknown vehicle driven by an unknown actor, and unit 2 was a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Kevin Farrell, 48, of Lincoln University. The crash occurred as both units were traveling north bound on Route 1. Unit 1 failed to secure its load and a rock fell off and impacted Unit 2 in the front windshield portion of the vehicle. The driver of Unit 2 was not reportedly injured and was wearing lap and shoulder restraints were in use at the time of the incident.
The Pennsylvania State Police is investigating a crash involving one vehicle which collided with a tree on Sept. 6 at 5:51 p.m. on southbound Route 472 at Chamberlain Circle in Elk Township. The defendant, Jose Rocha, 25, with no known fixed address, was traveling south on Route 472 when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a group of trees. During the investigation it was determined that the driver was intoxicated, said police. Charges have been filed through District Court 15-3-05.
Hit and Run
This one-vehicle crash occurred on Sept. 4 at 11:30 p.m. on College Circle, 1214 feet west of Elkdale Road in Lower Oxford Township. According to police reports, this crash occurred as an unknown vehicle was traveling west on College Circle, and, for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway and impacted shrubbery that was located on the property of a residence on the 200 block of College Circle. The vehicle then fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Theft by Unlawful taking
In the commission of this crime, which occurred at an undetermined time sometime between Aug. 10 and 24, unknown actor(s) removed a three-foot tall serpentine stone statue, weighing approximately 300 pounds, made by local artist Phelix Brandimarti, from the scene, the 600 block of Barren Road in East Nottingham Township, by unknown means. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Pennsylvania State Police, Avondale Barracks at 610.268.2022.
According to Pennsylvania State Police Avon-dale reports, Judith Martinez, 53, of Nottingham was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Controlled Substance on Route 1 southbound at Scroggy Road overpass in Lower Oxford Township on Aug. 30 at 2:15 a.m.
Oxford EMS responded to a two-vehicle crash on Sept. 3 at 11:30 a.m. on State Highway 41 at its intersection with Faggs Manor Road. This crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2008 Ford Focus driven by Theresa Herbert, 63, of Philadelphia, was traveling north on Route 41 and had a rear end collision with Unit 2, a 1998 Dodge Neon driven by Martin Mendez-Lopez, 23, of Cochranville. Unit 2 was stopped on Route 41 southbound and attempting to make a left hand turn onto Faggs Manor Road when Unit 1 struck its rear. Herbert was reported to have minor injuries and her passenger, Theresa Herbert, Sr., 89, was reported to have moderate injuries, both were transported to Jennersville Regional Hospital for medical attention. There were no reported injuries in Unit 2. Both drivers were charged, said police.
