Contract settlementThe Octorara Area School District Board of Directors (OASD) and the Octorara Area Education Support Personnel Association (OAESPA) have settled on a contract to be effective from July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2012.

The OAESPA is comprised of principal and building secretaries, instructional assistants, personal health assistants, and playground and cafeteria supervisors. Principal and building secretaries generally work a 240-day contract and all other categories generally work a 180-day contract.

Salary increase in the new contract for principal secretaries and building secretaries average $1,685 per year over the four-year contract. Salary increases for instructional assistants, personal health assistants, and playground and cafeteria assistants average $.57 per hour over the four-year contract.

Secretaries have an increase in co-payment for their health benefits premium of $5 per month for a total of $25 per month for the length of the contract. The instructional assistants, personal health assistants, and playground and cafeteria assistants do not receive health benefits.

There are no other significant changes to the OAESPA contract from the contract due to expire on June 30, 2008.
