Mary Booth White, 89, of Coatesville, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at the Pembrooke Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center in West Chester, where she had been a resident for three years.She was the widow of the late W. Arthur White Jr., who died in 1975 after they had shared 39 years of marriage together.
Born in New Castle, Del., she was the daughter of the late Joseph Booth and Margaret Walters.
A resident of Coatesville most of her life, she was a 1939 graduate of the former S. Horace Scott High School, then attended Drexel University.
She was a member of St. Cecilia's Church.
Mary was a manager for Stanley Home Products for more than 50 years.
She is survived by five children: sons, W. Arthur White III and wife, Jackie, of Smoketown, David White and wife, Fran, of Downingtown, Barry White and wife, Jill, of West Chester, and Gregory White of Altoona; and daughter, Cindy Hall and husband, Jim, of Coatesville. She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and sister, Margaret Soentgen of Kennedyville, Md.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Maureen; daughter-inlaw, Cherylan; and siblings, Joseph Booth and Daniel Walters.
She enjoyed her family, friends, reading, playing bridge, and reading palms and tarot cards.
She will always be remembered for the many charm bracelets that she wore and will be missed by all who knew her.
Mary was a member of the former Coatesville Sr. Century Club, West End Fire House Auxiliary and Downingtown VFW Auxiliary.
She also served as judge of elections in Coatesville.
