Marvalene V. Armstrong, 102, formerly of Allentown, left this life on Thursday, Dec, 20, to be with her Lord Jesus. She resided at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community since 1993.Born in Egypt, Pa., she is the daughter of the late Clayton O. and Ella C. George Fenstermacher. Her husband, William Colton Armstrong died in 1951.
Marvalene retired in 1980 after 24 years as secretary for Seibert E.C. Church, Allentown, where she was a life member. For twenty years after the death of her husband Marvalene faithfully raised two sons, and then cared for her mother, Ella, for twenty years until her passing at the age of 104 years. Marvalene was an avid reader.
Surviving are sons, William C. Armstrong, Jr. of Palo Alto, California and James C. Armstrong, husband of Linda J. (Dull) of Lancaster. Marvalene has four grandchildren, Heather M., of Decorah, Iowa and Stephanie A. Gordon, Christine R. and Timothy J. Armstrong, all of Lancaster.
Interment was private. Celebrations of Marvalene's life were held at Seibert E.C. Church, Allentown, on Wednesday, Dec. 26, and at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community on Saturday, Dec. 29. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kinsman Fund, Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, Attention: Kathy Sutherland, 625 Robert Fulton Highway, Quarryville, Pa., 17566. Dewald Funeral & Cremation Services in Quarryville is assisting the family.
