Lincoln University teen arrested on homicide by vehicle charges after crashA 2008 graduate of Avon Grove High School faces homicide by vehicle charges in connection with the Oct. 18 crash in Elk that left two people dead.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, Kevin DeMichiel, 18, of Lincoln University, is charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, manslaughter and other related charges.
DeMichiel was arrested Wednesday and arraigned before District Justice Harry W. Farmer, Jr. He was released after posting $50,000 bail.
According to the state police at the Avondale Barracks, DeMichiel was driving his Ford Mustang at a high rate of speed while under the influence of alcohol and/or controlled substances when he lost control of his vehicle while traveling around a curve. Police said DeMichiel struck an oncoming 1991 Honda Accord driven by Christopher Lynch, 26, of Lincoln University.
Stephen Bare, 18, of Lincoln University, a 2008 graduate of Avon Grove High School, and Troy Thompson, 16, of Lincoln University, a sophomore at Avon Grove High School who attended the Chester County Technical College High School, died in the crash on Lewisville Road, north of State Road.
Lynch was airlifted from the crash and treated for moderate injuries at Christiana Hospital;
DeMichiel was treated for internal injuries at Jennersville Hospital, according to police. Both victims were treated and released.
According to police, DeMichiel and Lynch were wearing seat belts; Bare and Thompson were not.
