Lou Collier, 66, of Avondale, died at home with his daughters by his side, on Monday, Feb. 18.He was the husband of the late Kim C. Collier.
He was born in 1941 in Alexandria, La.
Mr. Collier graduated from Purdue University in 1964 with a chemical engineering degree and then started his 30-year career with DuPont. After retiring in the 1990s he started his own manufacturing contracting business. When not working, he enjoyed spending time with his wife golfing, sailing and traveling to the south of France among many other things.
More recently he purchased an RV and took it to Topsail Island, Hilton Head, the Finger-lakes and Cape May. He also fulfilled his dream of traveling out west with his daughters to Montana and going to visit his brother in California. Last year also proved to be busy as he attended all three of his daughter's weddings.
He is survived by his three daughters and their husbands, Kristin and Kyle Van Riper of Avondale, Maria and Adam Bair of Newark, Del., and KC and Jason Morris of Holly Springs, N.C.; his stepsons, Bob and Matt Perna of Avondale; his brother, Robert, his wife, Fabienne, and their 2 sons, Louis and Julian of Calif.
His memorial service was held on Friday Feb. 22, at the Brandywine Valley Baptist Church, Wilmington.
