HARRISBURG-The Farm at Doe Run in West Marlborough Township won big at the 103rd Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg on Monday.
The Farm at Doe Run, which has won Best in Show for five years running, took honors at the event’s Cheese Competition on opening day.
Doe Run won in both the semi-hard and semi-soft hard cheese categories and the Alpine and Swiss category. The Farm at Doe Run was purchased in 2008 by Pennsylvania native Richard Hayne, founder of Urban Outfitters. The farm supplies many local restaurants with its well-known cheeses.
The Farm Show is the largest indoor agricultural exhibition in the nation with more than 6,000 animals, 10,000 competitive exhibits and 300 commercial exhibits.
Visitors will have more than one week to check out the 2019 Farm Show, which will run through Jan. 12. Hours will be 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Jan. 7-11 and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Jan. 12.
