WEST CHESTER — An Uber driver has been charged with rape following an eight-month investigation by Chester County law enforcement authorities.
Ahmed Moustafa Elgaafary, 26, of Lansdale, was arrested on Wednesday, Oct. 31, and charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and indecent assault as a result of an incident that was reported on Feb. 10, 2018.
State police at Embreeville said Egaafary was working as an Uber driver when he got a call to arrive at the Valley Forge Casino in Upper Merion. Egaafary picked up the female fare and transported her to a residence in Chester County.
Police said it was later confirmed that Elgaafary had sex with the female while she was unconscious, and without her consent.

The pedestrian killed in West Goshen on Oct. 27 in the area of West Chester Pike and Patrick Avenue has been identified at David Earl Jackson, 36, 14 Penn Oak Lane, Oxford. The operator of the striking vehicle stayed at the scene and is fully cooperating with investigators. The accident is still under investigation by the West Goshen Township Police Department Traffic Safety Division.
On Oct. 28, West Goshen officers were dispatched to the Quality Inn on South High Street for a physical domestic between husband and wife. Officers noticed marks indicative of a physical altercation on the victim, and cuts on the hands of Kelly Pluck, 28, of Atglen. Officers took statements from both husband and wife and based on those statements and obsservations, Kelly Pluck was taken into custody. She was charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.
On Oct. 9, West Goshen police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 800 block of Goshen Road for a traffic violation. Officers detected an odor of marijuana coming from the car and the driver, Desmond Coles, 29, of Philadelphia, told an officer he had a blunt in the vehicle. Officers then searched the vehicle and located marijuana, drug paraphernalia and drug delivery paraphernalia. Coles now faces a series of drug charges.
Westtown-East Goshen Regional
Hit and run
On Oct. 18, shortly after 2 p.m., Westtown East Goshen Regional Police were dispatched to the 1200 block of New Street for the hit-and-run accident. After an investigation was conducted 64-year-old Janis Zane was arrested for assault, recklessly endangering another person and related offenses.
According to the West Whiteland Police Department, they are investigating a theft that occurred at Walmart in Exton on Tuesday, Oct. 23. The alleged suspect in the photographs stole a cell phone. On Oct. 12 at 3:44 a.m., a thin white male wearing a camo t-shirt and watch on his left hand was captured on a surveillance camera trespassing in the 1400 Block of St. Matthews Road. The bicycle he is seen carrying, a Cannondale, was stolen from a nearby residence. On Oct. 16 at 2:31 a.m., another individual, described as a white male with some facial hair, was captured on surveillance cameras stealing copper pipe from a residence in the 1400 Block of St. Matthews Road. Drug charges, death threats
Police are investigating an incident that occurred on Oct. 25 at 12:04 p.m. at 182 Mary Lane in Honey Brook Township. Police said Joseph Edward Mertz Jr., 32, got into a verbal argument with his girlfriend and the argument escalated. Mertz pointed a loaded handgun, a Tarus .38 Special at both his girlfriend and another person stating "If you call the police, I will kill all of you." Mertz did not discharge the firearm and was taken into custody. No one was injured. Mertz was found to be in possession of drug-related paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana.
Brianna Lynne Morton, 20, of Upper Darby was arrested for DUI following a traffic stop Oct. 20 at 2:32 a.m. on Route 292 in Tredyffrin Township.
Fleeing and eluding
Jeffrey John Sheehan, 58, of Honey Brook Charged, was arrested for fleeing and eluding officers on Oct .7 at 6:31 p.m. on Route 322 after he did not pull over and yield to a law enforcement's lights and siren.
Two Coatesville men were arrested following a 23-minute police chase that began at the WalMart in West Sadsbury Township on Sept. 14 just before midnight for retail theft. The 41-year-old suspect and a 16-year-old passenger, both from Coatesville, let police on the chase. It was later discovered that the suspect committed an assault as a result of the incident.
