This graffiti was found on a structure in Kennett Square

KENNETT SQUARE—Police are investigating recent graffiti in the borough that occurred on or around the early morning of Dec. 30. Numerous businesses and public property was intentionally damaged requiring cleaning and removal, police said. The suspect appears to be a white male, teenage to early 20s and he appears to be smoking a cigarette or vaporizer in one video that the police obtained.

State police

Simple assault

Patricia Hackett, 45, of Chadds Ford, was taken into custody for simple assault on Jan. 5. According to police, Hackett was throwing things and striking her boyfriend and mother. Troopers also observed evidence of physical injury, the report said.

Identity theft

A 77-year-old man from East Marlborough Township was the victim of identity theft and extortion. According to state police, the unknown suspect emailed the victim in an attempt to extort $500 regarding alleged embarrassing online activity. The suspect also tried using credit cards belonging to the victim.

Car struck

State police from the Avondale barracks said an unknown motorist struck a parked car on Soltner Drive in East Marlborough Township on Dec. 24. The driver fled the scene.

West Chester

Retail theft

West Chester Police Department is investigating a retail theft that occurred at 5 Senses located at 133 West Market Street on Dec. 24, 2018. Police have a video of the suspect in the store allegedly removing approximately $500 dollars worth of merchandise from the shelves. Anyone with information regarding the identity of the above suspect is asked to call the West Chester Police at (610) 696-2700.


On Jan. 18, at 5:16 a.m.,West Chester Police officers responded to 404 East Barnard Street for an assault. The victim reported that Devante Jacobs19, of West Chester punched and assaulted him. The victim was able to escape and leave the residence through a first floor window. Jacobs was taken into custody, processed and held for arraignment at Chester County Prison.


On Jan. 5, the West Chester Police responded to a report of a burglary discovered at 134 Lacey Street. Several items, including electronics were taken from the residence. As a result of the investigation Dayon Pinder, 41, homeless was arrested for burglary, criminal trespass, theft and receiving stolen property. Pinder was arraigned before a magistrate. Pinder was released on bail.


On Jan. 12, at 3:41 p.m., officers responded to 226 East Nields Street for a reported burglary. It was determined that between Jan. 1, 2019 and Jan. 12, 2019, someone entered the house, and appeared to have occupied the residence while the residents were away. Bench warrant

On Jan. 8, at 9 p.m., West Chester Police officers discovered an occupied vehicle in the Stroud Preserve parking lot. Eugenie Johnson, 50, of West Chester, PA was placed in custody for an existing bench warrant. In a search incident to her arrest officers discovered drug paraphernalia on her person. Johnson was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, processed and transported to Chester County Prison.
