Police demolition

The old facility for the Southern Chester County Regional police force has been demolished, paving way for construction of a new complex that will be completed next year.

NEW GARDEN—Demolition of the old Southern Chester County Regional Police complex began Monday, paving way for a new state-of-the-art $4.5 million, 11,716-square-foot facility that will be completed sometime next year. The new facility will include a 540-square-foot community multi-purpose room, a 400-square-foot lobby and a secure administration area, which will include offices and a conference room, a detective bureau area and interview and testing rooms. It will also have storage and locker rooms; and holding cells and two sally ports for transportation of people being detained. The site is located at New Garden Park at 8934 Gap Newport Pike. New Garden Supervisor Steve Allaband said he is expecting the new complex to last at least 50 years.
