Lena Kennel, 96, of Landis Homes, formerly of Intercourse and Parkesburg, passed away at Landis Homes on Tuesday, Feb. 5. She was born in Atglen, daughter of the late John A. & Emma Kauffman Kennel. She was a member of Millwood Mennonite Church for all of her life where, in the past, she was very active in the church sewing circle and was a Sunday school teacher. Lena worked in sewing factories in Parkesburg and Gap. She enjoyed genealogy and was known as the family historian. She also enjoyed reading.Surviving are four siblings: Rebecca V. wife of the late Elmer K. Beiler, Minerva M. Kennel, Mary Emma, wife of the late Ephraim Nafziger, all of Landis Homes, and John A., husband of Mildred Martin Kennel of Parkesburg. Nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ada Kennel.

Funeral service took place at the Millwood Mennonite Church, 441 Amish Road, Gap, on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Donald Good officiating. The interment was in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be a viewing was held on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the East Bethany Chapel at Landis Homes, 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz, and also on Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
