Leila J. Johnson, 94, of Coatesville, died Jan. 21, 2008, at Brandywine Hospital.She was the widow of Piersol Johnson.
Born in Amelia County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Walker and Ida Anderson Johnson.
She was employed as a cook at Coatesville and Atkinson Hospital. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Ercildoun, where she was part of the Ladies Bible Class.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading the Bible and baking, and was known as the family historian.
She is survived by a brother, Warner Johnson of Mount Holly, N.J.; two sisters, Lavinia Wiliams of New Castle, Del. and Clare Wright of New York; a sister-in-law, Ernestine Johnson; a special devoted friend and caregiver, Cleveland Butterfield; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by a son, Norman Johnson; two brothers, Charles Anderson and Carrington Johnson; and four sisters, Annie Winfield, Mary Jones, Hattie Conaway and Missouri Johnson.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 28, at the Church of Christ, Route 82, Ercildoun.
Interment was in the adjoining church cemetery.
