The Unionville High School girls basketball team continued its strong start to their 2007-08 season last week by winning its own Christmas tournament.Unionville went 2-0 in the event, beating Delco Christian by a score of 53-45 in the finals of the Unionville Holiday Tournament last Friday night.
With the pair of victories, the Lady Indians improved to 8-3 overall so far this season. They've already matched their win total from a year ago. Unionville is also 4-1 in the Ches-Mont League.
In its victory over Delco Christian, Unionville allowed just three points in the second quarter and five points in the third quarter to pull away.
The Lady Indians received a team-high 17 points from Keli Anderson in the win. Lizzy Carney (15 points) and Alyssa Brown (14 points) were the other high scorers for Unionville.
To get to the championship game of its Holiday Tournament, Unionville earned a hard-fought 64-58 victory over Octorara the night before.
Brown finished with a team-high 20 points in that game. Anderson added 19 points, and Carney finished with 14.
Unionville returns to action on Jan. 3 when they-ll have a road game at Garnet Valley.
The only three losses by the Lady Indians so far this season have been to Springfield (Delco), Great Valley and Lower Merion.
