The high school rivalry between Kennett and Unionville will be in full swing this week as the two schools are set to meet head-to-head in three different varsity sports over the course of the next few days.Swimming
Kennett and Unionville will face each other for the first and only time this season in high school boys and girls swimming on Saturday night, Jan. 12 beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Kennett Area YMCA.
It will be the first-ever Ches-Mont League meet for both schools. Unionville swept Kennett last year (boys won 103-62 and girls won 99-69).
The Kennett/Unionville girls and boys basketball doubleheader will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 15. Both games will be at Kennett High School. The girls game tips at 6 p.m. and the boys game will follow immediately afterwards.
This will be the second and final meeting of the season between the two rivals. Back on Dec. 11, the Unionville girls beat Kennett by a score of 56-52 to improve to 31-3 in its last 34 games in the series. Also on Dec. 11, Unionville's boys team beat Kennett for the seventh straight time, winning 74-64.
Kennett and Unionville will square off in a Ches-Mont League wrestling match on Wednesday, Jan. 16 at Unionville High School. Junior varsity matches begin at 6:15 p.m. with the varsity to follow. Kennett has not beaten Unionville since 2001-02.
