EAST MARLBOROUGH >> A 24-year-old Kennett Township man was killed early Saturday morning while riding his bicycle on Route 926 in East Marlborough Township.

According to state police, Arthur Joseff Teitsort-Birog was bicycling eastbound along Route 926 near Schoolhouse Road at about midnight when he was struck from behind by a 2004 Silver Jeep Liberty SUV, also traveling east on Route 926. The collision occurred just 20 yards east of Schoolhouse Road, police said. Teitsort-Birog was wearing a helmet, police said.

The Jeep was operated by Alan Michael Medina Barajas, 21, of Pocopson Township. He was not injured and was wearing a seatbelt, police said.

Upon impact, police said Teitsort-Birog was thrown in the air off his Mongoose bicycle to the side of the road, approximately 10 yards and into the grass.

Responding troopers found Teitsort Birog deceased at approximately 2:20 a.m. Medina Barajas was found at a residence within a five-minute driving distance from the scene of the accident.

Police are still investigating the accident and are asking anyone who may have witnessed or been in the area at the time of the crash to contact Tpr. McMurray or Tpr. Neely at the Avondale barracks at 610-268-2022.
