Fresh off capturing its third straight Ches-Mont League American Division title, the Kennett High School golf team had a strong showing at districts last week.
Kennett placed fourth overall in the team standings at last Tuesday and Wednesday's District 1 Golf Tournament at Turtle Creek Golf Club in Limerick.
Council Rock North won the district title with 308 strokes. Holy Ghost Prep (311), Radnor (311) and Kennett (322) followed.
Kennett junior Ryan Barba also earned an individual honor at districts as he became one of just three local golfers to qualify for states. Barba shot rounds of 75 and 81 to earn a berth into the PIAA Regionals on Oct. 20 at Golden Oaks Golf Club in Fleetwood. Earlier this season, Barba finished in a tie for second place at the Ches-Mont League Championships.
The Blue Demons nearly had a second state qualifier. Zach Dilcher fired rounds of 82 and 75 and lost in three-way playoff for the final spot into states.
