Kennett brothers arrested on drug charges

Two Kennett Square brothers were arrested on drug charges following a drug raid last week.

Joshua Rivera, 22, and his brother, Jeremiah, of 500 Los Rosas Drive, were arrested Sept. 5 following a two-month investigation by Kennett Square, said Police Chief Ed Zunino. Approximately one-half pound of marijuana was seized during the raid along with cash and drug paraphernalia.

Joshua Rivera was charged with three counts each of delivery of marijuana; possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with criminal use of communication facility.

Jeremiah Rivera was charged with two counts of possession with intent to deliver marijuana, three counts of possession of paraphernalia and underage possession of alcohol.

Zunino said the raid was coordinated after the Kennett Square Police Narcotics team obtained a search warrant.

Both were arraigned before District Justice Daniel Maisano. Joshua Rivera was sent to Chester County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail. Jeremiah Rivera was released on unsecured bail.

The investigation is continuing. Police obtained additional information on drug activity in Kennett Square following the arrests. Zunino said more arrests are expected.
