Kennett Square area band “The Rose Project” is stepping up to perform at local venues in 2015. Local musician Bill Rose has taken his band with the eponymous name “The Rose Project” to new levels to include Bill Rose on guitar and vocals, Al Hahn on Bass and Keyboard, Dave Walker on Guitar, and Steve K. on drums. These guys are all local to Chester County, Pennsylvania, and they perform an edgy folk that will leave an impression. So who are these guys?
Bill Rose who is originally from Johnstown, has combined his music skill and compassion to create the premise for his band. The Rose Project has taken its sound to the next level and is quickly separating itself from ordinary folk band music. Their music conveys stories of earthly struggles and brings the listener to the depths of the writer’s mind with introspective lyrics, catchy melodies, and positive grooves. While he sings lead vocals and guitar for The Rose Project he is also connected with International organizations with goals to bring sustainable health care options to developing parts of the world and involved with developing Youth programs locally.
The band is comprised of guys who have a conscience about music and the way it can impact people. Dave Walker who is a known for leading a music ministry at Willowdale Chapel in Kennett Square plays guitar. Al Hahn, who plays bass and keyboard for the band grew up in Media and studied music at Berklee College of Music. Steve K. who is from Newark, Delaware, has been playing drums for around 40 years. Aside from their love of music the guys share a common ground when they perform songs of healing.
Bill Rose, who has traveled internationally says that one song “Aliwama” was written in Uganda. It is a song about realizing all things will pass and knowing that memories keep the spirit of those things and people that have passed. It has a tribal language in the lyrics (Uyu yesu aliwama, aliwama sana sana), which basically means The Universe (or God) knows and will always work for the greater good.
The Rose Project presents as an alternative folk band that implores the listener to objectively experience sound and navigate new perspectives. It is the kind of music that heals your soul and help you on your way. The Rose Project is looking for opportunities to perform.
