Whether or not the need for a township manager at a total cost to the Township of $85,000 is politically motivated, it's a good question to be asked. I believe the answer will be determined when and if a manager is appointed and who receives this appointment. If one of either the two individuals, whose names have been rumored to get the job, receives the appointment then it will appear the appointment was politically motivated.

Of these two individuals, one has been known to have a deficiency in organizational skills. The other is known to lack the inter-personal relationship skills in dealing with people that will be required.

In my humble opinion, the person for this full time job is already employed by the township, on a part time basis. Through the years, Maryann Furlong has demonstrated the organizational skills and an outstanding manner in dealing with the residents of the township. This of course would depend on whether or not Ms. Furlong would consider accepting this full time position.

If Ms. Furlong is not interested in this full time position then we the taxpaying residents should expect the supervisors to undertake a through search for the right person for this position.

Let us all ask our supervisors to make absolutely sure this appointment is not politically motivated.
