Nearly 6,000 art lovers came to the Brandywine River Museum this past weekend to celebrate the life and work of Andrew Wyeth (1917-2009). On Saturday, Jan. 31, 3,896 visitors came to the Museum to honor the famed artist, a record for single-day attendance. Museum admission on this special day was complimentary. The Superior Growers conditional use hearing in London Grove Township is continued to Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. at the township building.

Tragedy aired

Allan Andrade of Landenberg, author of "Leopoldville: A Tragedy Too Long Secret," reminds viewers that the TV program, "Deep Wreck Mysteries: Sunk on Christmas Eve," will be aired on the National Geographic station on Monday, Feb. 9, at 10 p.m.; Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 1 a.m.; and Monday, Feb. 16, at 6 p.m. The progam and book detail the sinking of a World War II troop ship in the English Channel during which 493 soldiers were reported to have died. Andrade was the main consultant for the program.
