Oxford and Sun Valley both came into last Friday's match-up on the Vanguards home field still searching for that elusive first win. The Hornets are still looking for that "W" after falling 33-14 to the Vanguards.Neither team was able to do much of anything in the first quarter, and when one of the two teams did move the ball, they turned it over, and the game went into the second quarter scoreless.

Sun Valley got on the board first. After two consecutive runs from Nick Morrell ate up 26-yards to the Hornet one-yard line, quarterback John Well Brock took it in on a keeper for the score.

Oxford came right back with a score of its own. After Brendan Mundy gave the Hornets good field position at the Vanguards' 43, Cory Detwiler capped the six-play drive with a five-yard run to tie the game at 7-7.

The Vanguards would score twice more before the break. The first came on a 21-yard run from Brock. Then, with time running down in the half, the Vanguards worked a gadget play with Brock handing off to Morrell, who then pitched it to Zach Hopkins, who found Brock open down the sideline for a 54-yard touchdown pass and a 19-7 halftime lead.

Morrell led all rushers of the night with 109-yards on 18 carries and a touchdown. Brock added another 44 yards rushing to his TD catch and completed five passes for 72 yards, including a 20-yard strike to Shane Low.

Oxford's other score came in the fourth, when Conner Hollen-bach connected with Mundy on a 27-yard touchdown pass. Mundy caught five balls for 119 yards to lead the Hornets offensively.
