For the seventh year in a row Herr's Foods, Inc. will host Cruise Night at its visitor center Thursday, May 18. The classic and collector car show is expected to attract over 300 cars and 3,000 people from 5 p.m. to dusk, rain or shine, at the complex located at 20 Herr Dr. in Nottingham.

Last year Herr's played host to 330 cars and 3,500 people as a sea of American muscle lined the parking lot at Herr's Visitor Center. This year those in charge hope to see those numbers increase, as once again the facility will provide food, games, music, contests for children, Herr's merchandise and performances by the Oxford Center for Dance.

Additions to this year's event include stands for Alex's Lemonade, Dip and Dots Ice Cream, funnel cake and fruit smoothies. The Wakefield Lions Club will provide food at this year's Cruise Night. Herr's also expects to hand out samples of the snack food giant's new products.

As always, Cruise Night will feature its famous People's Choice Contest, in which car owners can enter to have their vehicle judged by those in attendance. Trophies will once again be awarded for first, second and third place, based on audience votes. Anyone with a vehicle may enter.

Winners of last year's People's Choice Contest included Juan Soto, who took home first place for his 1966 Chevy Caprice; John Snow, whose 1967 Chevy Nova took home second; and David Saunders, who won third with his 1937 Ford Phaeton.

"We always expect that we'll get bigger and better each year," said Suzy Stahl, promotional events coordinator for Herr's. "We expect it to grow as long as the weather cooperates."

Over the past four years, Cruise Night has shown consistent growth, which is expected to continue through this year. In 2002, the event played host to 136 cars and nearly 1,000 people. Every year since, the event has grown, with the exception of 2003 in which pouring rain kept people and cars away.

Stahl then explained that Herr's expects and hopes to see nearly 4,000 people in attendance for this year's event.

"It is a fun and safe event that we hope people from all over continue to attend," said Stahl.

As always, admission, parking and tours of Herr's Snack Factory will be free throughout Cruise Night. For more information visit or call 1-800-63-SNACK.
