Harriet Hankin Schoonmaker, 59, of Glenmoore, died of cancer at her home, Friday, April 4, 2008.She was the wife of Robert Schoonmaker.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Dorothy Hankin.
She was a 1970 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.
She was director of corporate benefits for Aramark and manager of compensation and benefits for Provident National Bank. With her business partner, Alex Jones, she grew CGI Consulting Group Inc. into a business that designed, implemented and managed employee benefit strategies, provided administrative solutions to managed employee benefit strategies and solutions to mid-size companies throughout the U.S. After selling CGI, She became the National Director of Business Development for the North America Employee Benefits Practice.
She was the author of "The New Workforce," and was frequently the featured speaker at conferences throughout the United States, speaking on the link between business topics, benefits and work-life balance.
Her numerous awards included Pennsylvania's Best 50 Women in Business for 2000, Greater Philadelphia's 2001 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Business Consulting, and Business-woman of the Year from the Great Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Lindsay; stepchildren, Rob (Robin) Schoonmaker, Rick (Eileen) Schoonmaker and Nancy (Wendell) Wallach; a brother, Arthur (Susan) Hankin; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 6, at Beth Israel Congregation, 385 Pottstown Pike, Uwchlan.
