George Edward Davis, 52, son of the late Thomas E. Davis and Marie A. Tribitt Davis, passed away peacefully at home Feb.12, 2008, in Newark, Del.Husband of Susan P. McClain Davis; and the father of George E. Davis, Jr.
George was a graduate of the class of 1974 at Lake Forest High School in Felton, Del. George was a career horseman since graduating from high school. He was a dedicated employee of Bruce Jackson Stables until his health failed. George was a faithful member of St. Paul AME, Harrington, Del.; and Second Presbyterian Church in Oxford, Pa.
George will always be remembered for his gardening, outdoor cooking and entertaining at family events.
He is survived by his wife and sweetheart Susan P. McClain Davis; son George E. Davis Jr., mother Marie A. Davis; five sisters; twin Georgina "Edna" Sivels (Allen), Vivian Hendricks (Elroy), Margaret Griffin (Ricardo), Eldora Davis, Etta Davis, and one brother Reginald Davis all of Delaware. Father-in-law Allen McClain, sister-in-laws Lorraine Cain (Clifford), Elizabeth McClain-Bell, Ruth McClain, Marcella Mayo, Sherry Jackson (Eric), Kathleen McClain (Stan), brother-in-laws Sterling McClain (Sheila), and Stephen McClain, and a wealth of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
A Home Going Service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, at White Clay Presbyterian Church, 15 Polly Drummond Hill Road, Newark. Viewing was from 9-11 a.m.
