Kindergarten classes at Oxford Area School District visited the Union Fire Company No. 1 during Fire Prevention Week in October. The tour began with an informative talk from Brian Brown to the kindergarteners about fire safety. A volunteer, Mr. Toney, donned full firefighter turnout gear and air pack to show the students what a firefighter looks and sounds like when fighting a fire. Students took a tour of the fire station, learning about the different fire trucks and ambulances. The visit was a fun and memorable educational experience for the kindergarteners. The Union Fire Co. No. 1 of Oxford is located at 315 Market Street and often hosts classes who wish to learn more about fire safety, the volunteers and fighting fires.
