Evangelist Elvira J. Peoples of Coatesville passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at her son's home in Phoenix, Ariz.Born in Winston Salem, N.C., she was daughter of the late Henry L. and Nora Byers Jarrett. She was the widow of Boston Peoples Sr., with whom she shared 26 years of marriage.

Through her years of ministry, she completed theological studies at Eastern Seminary, Full Gospel Institute, COGIC Theological and Mt. Airy Institute.

In 1986, she became the founder and host of People's Heartline on WCOJ radio for 20 years.

She was a member of First Calvary Church of God in Christ for 37 years. Mrs. Peoples served as a member of the ICUA Ushers Association, the Mary Tent Lodge, the Coatesville Ministers' Alliance and the Widows Support Ministry.

She leaves two sons, Boston People Jr., of Coatesville, the Rev. Derrick D. Peoples Sr. of Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Nora L. Peoples and Angela G. Douglas, both of Coatesville; four brothers, Henry L. Jarrett Jr. of Los Angeles, Calif., Carl W. Jarrett Sr. and Paxon E. Jarrett, both of Winston Salem, N.C., and James E. Jarrett of Virginia; a sister, Nora L. Martin of Winston Salem, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph H. Peoples.
