Elletta Herring, 74, of Unionville, went to live with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 9, 2008.She was the wife of Richard Herring Sr., with whom she shared 53 years of marriage.
Born in Plymouth Township, she was the daughter of the late Anna Stremba and Ellwood T. Risk Sr.
She grew up in Ardmore and attended Lower Merion High School, graduating in 1951.
She worked for Bell Telephone in Philadelphia and then became a homemaker and raised her family.
During that time, she was employed by the Unionville School District. In 1994, at the age of 57, she became a graduate LPN and worked for Pocopson Home and Chester County Hospital.
She was a charter member of the Trinity Assembly of God Church in West Chester and most recently an active member of the Hamorton United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, Elletta is survived by her children, Richard Herring Jr., Nanci Austin and her husband, Richard, and Alan Herring; and a grandson, Henry Austin, all of West Chester; two brothers, Ellwood Risk and his wife, Betty, of Charlotte, N.C., and Timothy Risk and his wife, Carolee, of Downingtown; two sisters, Ann Stuart of Wenonah, N.J., and Lois Risk of Willow Grove; and a brother-in-law, Walter Herring and his wife, Barbara, of Lancaster. She will be missed and loved by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
