Earl Brooks, 92, of Wilmington, Ill., formerly of Avondale, died on Tuesday, June 24 at Riverside Hospital in Kankakee, Ill.He was the husband of the late Carrie Miller Brooks, who died in 2004 and with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.

Born in Piney Creek, N.C., he was the son of the late Emory and Frona Ham Brooks.

Mr. Brooks served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army.

He worked for various growers in the mushroom industry.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and walking.

He is survived by his son, Dennis E. Brooks of Wilmington, Ill.; a daughter, Arlene L. Hankins and her husband, James, all of Wilmington, Ill.; one brother, Lester; two sisters, Berlia and Neva; and one granddaughter, Tracy Harding.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Ruth, and four brothers, Paul, Lee, Warren and Dean.

His funeral service was Saturday, June 28, at Foulk & Grieco Funeral Home, West Grove.
