NEW GARDEN—Police are looking for two people in connection with the theft of jewelry in two home burglaries in unrelated cases in New Garden Township. Police are also investigating a residential burglary in which a half-million dollars in jewelry, and a gun, were stolen.
In the first, $14,000 in jewelry was taken from a residence in the 400 block of Line road in New Garden sometime last year. After an investigation, police identified Tammy L. Johnson, 32, of Kennett Square as a suspect. She was staying at the residence when the burglary occurred. Charges have been filed, and police have issued a warrant for Johnson’s arrest.
Police have been unable to locate Johnson.
In the second, a home located at the 6000 block of Whitney Court in New Garden was forcibly entered, and jewelry and electronics worth an estimated $1,850 was stolen.
Following an investigation, police identified Miguel A. Montalvo, 34, of Camden, N.J. as a suspect. An arrest warrant was issued for Montalvo, but police have been unable to locate him.
Police say a half-million dollars in jewelry and a gun and other items were stolen from a New Garden home on Oct. 19, and the suspect or suspects are still at large.
The stolen gun was recovered after it was subsequently used in a shooting in Wilmington, De. That suspect is in custody with authorities in Wilmington. With the assistance from the Wilmington Police Department and the Delaware State Police, additional arrests have been made, search warrants have been executed, and a considerable amount of the stolen jewelry has been discovered.
Anyone with information on either Johnson or Montalvo should contact Southern Chester County Regional Police at 610-268-2907.
