KENNETT SQUARE—A Kennett man has been charged with rape of a child on numerous occasions following an investigation. He is being held on $1 million cash bail.
Arrested was Jose Alfredo Vilchis-Nava in connection with the Feb. 14 rape of the pre-teen at a house in Kennett Square.
The Kennett Square Police Criminal Investigative Division, with the assistance of the Chester County Detectives, the Crime Victim's Center of Chester County, and the Chester County Department of Children Youth and Families, investigated the case.
On Feb. 14, 2019, the Kennett Square Police Department received a report of a juvenile who was being sexually assaulted by an adult. The investigation determined that the juvenile female had been sexually assaulted over an extended period of time by Vilchas-Nava.
On Feb. 15, Vilchas-Nava was taken into custody and turned over to Chester County Prison for booking. On Feb. 16 he was arraigned and remanded to Chester County Prison after failing to post $1 million cash bail.
In addition to rape of a child, Vilchas-Nava is charged with sexual contact with a person younger than 16, statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault of a child, indecent assault of a person younger than age 13, corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children.
A preliminary hearing will be scheduled in the coming week.
