Volunteers Needed for Alcohol Awareness Day
True or False: Drinking alcohol can only hurt you if you are an alcoholic? The answer is false: Men who drink more than 14 drinks per week and women who drink more than seven drinks per week are at greater risk for significant health and other alcohol-related problems, even if they are not alcoholic. Many people are simply not aware of these and other risk factors. However, early screening for alcohol-related health problems can reduce those risks.
National Alcohol Screening Day will be observed on Thursday, April 6 in Chester County and volunteers are needed to provide information to area residents. Throughout the county Free, Anonymous and Confidential screenings will be offered to anyone interested in learning if their use of alcohol might have negative effects on their health, their families, and their lives. Volunteers will receive free training on alcohol use and health risks and will be prepared to provide information to others in a one-to-one format. For more information on how you could volunteer, please contact Priscilla Weishew at 215-345-6644 or 1-800-221-6333.
