Class of 1950 plans luncheon

The Solanco High School Class of 1950 invites all classmates to a Get-Together Luncheon on Wednesday, May 3, at 1 p.m. at C.R.Lapp Family Restaurant in Quarryville.

Community Closet to hold Fashion Show

A fashion show will be held Tuesday, May 2, at the Hoffman Building on the Solanco Fairgrounds. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Food and refreshments will be for sale. Senior citizens invited to Vaudeville Show at senior center

Solanco area senior citizens are invited to see The P.T. Waggs Vaudeville Show on Monday, April 24 at 11 a.m. at the Solanco Area Senior Center on the Solanco Fairgrounds in Quarryville.

The Phineas T. Waggs One Man Vaudeville Show is a rollicking recreation of turn-of-the-century theatrical corn. A fast-paced, family-oriented variety show with storytelling, son-and-dance, fire-eating, juggling, music, mime, magic, trained animals and comic gags that will have audience members dancing in the aisle.

Health Council holds event for families at Solanco High

The Solanco School District health Council is holding a free event for families titled, "Make Time for Health," from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 20 at Solanco High School.

A registered dietician will present a program on how to help parents encourage healthy eating habits in their children. There will also be vendors offering information on health topics and recreational programs in Lancaster County.

The evening will include a hula hoop contest for children, who are asked to bring their own hula hoop.

Solid Rock to hold fundraising banquet

Solid Rock Youth Ministries, 34 East State Street, Quarryville, is hosting their first fund-raising banquet at the Netherlands Inn and Spa, (formerly the Historic Strasburg,1 Historic Drive, Strasburg, on Thursday, April 27 at 6 p.m. A free will offering will be taken. Horseshoe pitchers wanted for contest

A horseshoes pitching contest will be held Saturday, April 29, at 9 a.m. at New Holland Borough's Community Park, East Jackson Street, New Holland. Team partners will be randomly picked. It is a double-elimination format. Bring your own horseshoes. The event is free. Beginners to advanced pitchers are welcome. The event will be rescheduled only in the case of a long, heavy rain. Pequea Boat Club plans clean up

Volunteers are needed to help PPL, the Outboard Boating Club of Lancaster County and the Pequea Boat Club clean up a 4-mile stretch of the Susquehanna River shoreline north and south of Pequea on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Volunteers should be 12 years of age or older and plan to meet at the PPL public boat ramp in Pequea at 8:45 a.m. to register. The boat ramp can be accessed by following Route 324 south to its end at the Susquehanna River in Pequea.

Appropriate footwear for hilly river terrain and swampy areas is recommended. Trash bags will be provided.

A light lunch will be served following the clean up. Door prizes donated by local businesses will be awarded.

Relay for Life team to hold basket bingo

Powl's Country Chicks Relay for Life team will be holding a "Baskets and more Bingo" on Sunday, April 23 at the Hoffman Building in Quarryville. Doors open at noon and games will start at 1:30 p.m. The cost is $15 for 22 games of Bingo. There will also be special "surprise" drawings throughout the afternoon in addition to the many great door prizes that will be given away. Raffle items and homemade food will be available.
