Free concert to be held in Huffnagle Park
Jeremy Hutson will be playing classical music on his guitar in a free concert for the whole family at Huffnagle Park in Quarryville Borough at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 29. The Huffnagle Civic Association is sponsoring the event. Call Tom Eilertsen at 786-5514.
Huffnagle Park Civic Association sponsors bike ride
Members of the Huffnagle Park Civic Association are inviting the community to a bike ride on the Heritage Rail-Trail in York County and the North Central Rail Trail on Saturday, Aug. 5. Anyone who is interested must call Eilertsen to reserve a space at 786-5514. Space is limited to the first 25 callers. The riders will leave at 7 a.m. from Huffnagle Park. There will be trailers to take the bikes over to York County.
Robert Fulton Fire Co. to hold chicken barbecue
The Robert Fulton Fire Company will hold a chicken barbeque on Saturday, July 29 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Chicken will be guaranteed until 2 p.m. to ticket holders. A half chicken costs $3.50, and a dinner costs $6. A dinner includes a half chicken applesauce, baked beans, roll, dessert and a drink. Pick-up is at rear of the fire house on Routes 222/272 in Wakefield. The barbeque will be held rain or shine. For tickets, call 529-2816.
Argh, Me Maties!
The Quarryville Library will be showing "The Pirates of the Carribean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" in true matinee form, complete with a big screen and free popcorn in the Carlson Cultural Room at the library at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 29. This event is for children of all ages and their families. Pirate's code; be there or walk the plank!
Muddy Run Park will have a Candy Bar Bingo on Saturday, July 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the campground pavilion. Bring a candy bar and get a bingo card. The park is located on Route 372, 5 miles west of the Buck. For more information, call 284-5850.
Car cruise set
There will be a Car Cruise on Sunday, Aug. 6 at Muddy Run Park. All cruisers are welcome. The cruise starts at 1 p.m. and runs until 5 p.m. Music and food will be available.
Lancaster County 4-H Fair to be held
The Lancaster County 4-H Fair will be held Aug. 10-12 at the West Lampeter Fairgrounds in Lampeter. All activities and events scheduled are open to the public. There is no admission or parking fee and a food booth is open each day. For more information, call the Penn State Cooperative Extension Office at 394-6851.

Safe Harbor School reunion and picnic to be held
The 16th annual Safe Harbor School reunion and picnic will be held on Sunday, July 30, at the Safe Harbor Park. The event will begin at 10 a.m. in the park's large pavilion. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m.
Participants are to bring a salad or dessert of their choice, their own place settings and a non-alcoholic cold beverage. Hamburgers, hot dogs, rolls, baked beans, relishes, coffee, tea and punch will be provided.
Gate prizes and cake walks are planned. Guests are welcome.

The Bart Township Alumni Association banquet will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Bart Fire Hall. Local artist to display paintings at Quarryville Library
Well-known local artist Doris Hough will display her artwork in a show in the Carlson Cultural Room at the Quarryville Library Aug. 4 and Sept. 8 titled, "Still Surrounded by Beauty."
A reception to meet the artist will be held Saturday, Aug. 5 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Carlson Cultural Room.
Some of Hough's artwork will include oils and oil pastels on canvas featuring local historical buildings, equine portraits, fox hunting and flowers. There will be prints for sale.
The artwork in this show will be different than when Hough had a show at the library in 2002, which was the second highest grossing show at the library.
