Wanted: Boys to join Cub Scouts

Boys, ages 6-11 years of age, in grades 1-5 are invited to join Cub Scouts in the local communities and townships, of the Octorara School District. Three packs serve the local community: Pack #26 of Cochranville, Pack #20 of Atglen and Pack #135 of Parkesburg. All three packs are currently holding Cub Scout sign-ups to recruit and welcome new members to their packs. All three packs serve the school district.

Cub Scout is designed for all boys, ages 6-10, grades 1-5. The Cub Scout program combines outdoor activities, sports, academics, first aid and safety with many other program opportunities. It helps to instill and develop values such as honesty, good citizenship and respect. In addition, it combines fun with educational values and physical fitness.

Become part of a great youth organization that helps strengthen the boy as well as the family.

Historical Society presentation scheduled

The Historical Society of Salisbury Township presents John Zook's Calendars from his collection of one for every year in the 20th century depicting the art and culture of the times. The event will be held Thursday Oct.19 at 7:30 p.m. at Salisbury Township Municipal Building 5581 Old Philadelphia Pike, Gap.

Support Group offered

A self-help group for people struggling with stress, tension, anxiety, panic, depression, fatigue, sleep problems, worry, anger, fear, helplessness, hopelessness, and other related conditions. Atglen to hold Main Street celebration

On Saturday Oct. 21, the Borough of Atglen is celebrating their Main Street Revitalization Project with a variety of activities. The 15th Annual Covered Bridge Classic will begin registration at 7:30 am at the Penningtonville Presbyterian Church. Dedication ceremonies will be held at the Pavilion and Bell Plaza at 1:00. Antique and Classic Car enthusiasts are invited to cruise Main Street from 2:00 - 5:00. A photo exhibit in the Borough Hall and a children's scavenger hunt are also part of the day's festivities. Halloween Dance to be held

The Gap VFW will be holding a Halloween Dance Saturday, Oct. 28, 8 p.m. to midnight. The band, Soul Driven, will perform and there will be prizes for best costumes. Everyone is welcome. The VFW is located at 4988 Lincoln Highway East in Gap.

OCRC Christmas Bazaar scheduled

The OCRC would invites the public to have a table at its 4th Annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday Dec. 2. The Bazaar will be held at the West Fallowfield Community Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The building and bazaar will be one of the stops on the 22nd Annual Christmas In and Around Atglen & Parkesburg. Registrations are being accepted now from local crafters and artisans offering handmade unique and original items. The cost is $25 per space, and will accommodate one 8-foot table; vendors should bring their own tables.
