SECA Summerfest is July 12The annual Southern End Community Association Summerfest 2008 will be held on Saturday, July 12, from 4 to 10 p.m. followed by fireworks at 10:15 p.m. The festival will be held in Memorial Park, Quarryville. Admission and parking are free.

Robert Fulton to hold chicken barbeque

Robert Fulton Fire Company Auxiliary will hold a chicken barbecue on Saturday, July 5 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. A half chicken or dinner can be picked up at the rear of the fire house, Routes 272/222 South in Wakefield; rain or shine. For tickets or information call 529-2816.

Muddy Run announces events

Muddy Run Park has announced the following events: July 5 - The annual Antique and Classic tractor pull starts at 10 a.m. with weigh in starting at 7 a.m. past the upper pavilion. For information on the tractor pull call Mike Hess at 587-6276. Food will be available.

The park is located five miles west of the Buck. Park information call 284-5850.

Bart Alumni Association to meet

The Bart Township Alumni Association will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Bart Fire Hall. Fellowship and registration begins at 10:30 a.m. with lunch being served at 12:30 p.m. Scholarship winners will be acknowledged; graduates from 75, 60 and 50 years ago will be honored; and memorabilia will be on display. Attendance of Amish who went to Bart in the 1940s and 1950s is encouraged.

Bart High School was located at the Octorara Covenanter church (across the road from Middle Octorara) from 1903-1927. From that time until 1947, the location was at green Tree. After 1947, Bart residents went to Solanco for high school.

All who attended the schools of Bart Township including those who went on to graduate from Solanco, are cordially invited to the Banquet. Those who are already on our mailing list and who attended any of the last three banquets will receive a Newsletter with details about the 2008 Banquet.

Recent Solanco graduates from Bart Township and others who have not received Newsletters in the past should contact Barry Girvin with requests to be added to the mailing list.
