Quarryville Library to host summer children's book club
The Quarryville Library will host its second annual "Lords and Ladies of the Roundtable" summer book club for children in grades one through six. We'll read a little bit of a story each week, discuss what we've read and have as interesting snack, craft or activity to go along with the story. If there are enough children, we'll split into age groups. The event will be held Tuesdays at 1 p.m. starting June 20. All activities are free, but, registration is required. Puppet theatre comes to library
The Harmony Hill Puppet Theatre is coming to the Quarryville Library to present "Aesop's Fables" and sing-along songs on Wednesday, June 21, at 10:30 a.m. Registration is required. Robert Fulton Fire Company to hold cash bingo
The Robert Fulton Fire Company will be holding a special cash bingo on Sunday, June 25, at 1 p.m. Package includes 40 games for $25. Food is included as well as early birds and a jackpot. There is limited seating with smoking and non-smoking. The bingo will be held at the fire hall in Wakefield Routes 272/222 South. For more information, call 548-8953.
Library to hold Chess Challenge
On Thursday, June 29, the Quarryville Library will host a Chess Challenge for children of all ages from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Bring a friend, your brain and an appetite. A snack will be provided. This activity is free but registration is required. Register at the library or call 786-1336.
Tractor pull slated
Mark your calendars for a fun weekend at Muddy Run Park. A pedal tractor pull for adults and children will start at 9 a.m. on July 1. All children must be with an adult. The event will be held at the upper ballfield. For information, call Mike Hess at 587-6276. Food will be available. The park is located on Route 372, five miles west of the Buck in Holtwood.

Join us for a day of family fun presented by Science Explorers Inc. at the Quarryville Library. There will be interactive entertainment with exciting demonstrations and experiments. Cool off with a story
Quarryville Library welcomes children 18-months to 5 years of age to story times this summer. Best of all, this program is free and a great way for children to learn social and listening skills in preparation for school. Story time for our 18 to 24 month old children will begin on Wednesday, June 21 at 10:30 a.m. Story time for 3 to 5-year-olds will begin Thursday, June 22, at 10:30 a.m. Sign up at the library, 357 Buck Road, Quarryville or call 786-1336.
Yard Sale set
Spina Bifida Association will have a yard sale on Friday and Saturday, June 23 and 24 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will be held outside on the lawn at the Stoner Business Center, located at 215 E. State St., Quarryville. Many new items have been donated. Anyone who has items to sell can call 786-9280.
No-Till Field Days to be held
Members of the Solanco Young Farmers Association will be attending the No-Till Field Days in the area June 27-29.
On Tuesday, June 27, they will be going to the AK and John Stoltzfus's farm at 216 Peach Bottom Road, (Stihl Saw Shop) Willow Street.
Topics to be covered include no-till alfalfa, no-till corn into rye at different heights, cover crops, soil health, soil pit, no-till tobacco. There will also be equipment demonstrations and manure management. Speakers will be Jeff Graybill, Del Voight, Grant Troop, John Metrick and Jerry Whiteside.
On Wednesday, June 28 they will be going to the Penn State University Landisville Research Farm and Thursday, June 29 they will be at Pequea Planter, Gideon and Daniel Stoltzfus, Gap.
